First-Look Wedding Photos
We like the idea of the First-Look wedding photos idea.
Definition
That moment when the couple sees each other for the first time on the wedding day. Nowadays, many photographers set this scene prior to the Ceremony…. just for the happy couple…. no guests, no parents, just an intimate, private moment before the actual Ceremony.
Back In The Day
Back in the days of arranged marriages, couples did not have a clue what the other person looked like.
Brides and grooms were prohibited from seeing each other until the last minute so that the groom didn’t have the chance to change his mind if the bride did not meet expectations.
The custom eventually turned into the idea that it was somehow unlucky for the groom to see his bride on their wedding day.
Pros and Cons
Couples should consider the first-look wedding photos for more than just the practicality of timing. If you’re nervous, having a first look and seeing your partner, is a great way to ease that feeling.
Obviously, the first look wedding photos enables the couple to take a lot of photos before the ceremony so you can get to the cocktail hour and reception sooner.
However, if you are a traditionalist, then there’s nothing like seeing your “better half” for the first time AT the Ceremony.
Also, if you’re having a ceremony earlier in the day, a first look means you’ll have to be ready even earlier than you had planned.
Finally, you are not truly alone during the first-look. The photographer and assistant (or two), video or filmmaker (or two or three) plus your wedding party and parents, who certainly want to sneak-a-peek.
It’s YOUR Choice
The first-look is something to consider. After all, it’s your day and your decision. Ask your photographer about “The First Look Wedding Photos”, so you can have a memorable wedding day, your way.
