Firstly, what is yacht rock?
Yacht rock is another name for adult-contemporary rock music from the mid-1970s and the early 1980s. Its smooth sound and the studio musicians who played on these classic tracks define it. The term was coined in J. D. Ryznar and is thought to be about a stereotypical yuppie yacht owner enjoying smooth music while sailing. Many of these songs do indeed include nautical references in their lyrics.

Furthermore, it’s a mixture of ’70s and 80’s soul, R&B, and jazz elements while dropping a dollop of funk.
