In the first place, when crafting the ideal timeline and flow for your wedding reception, deciding on the order of the wedding toasts and speeches is an important topic.
Questions To Ask
Who gives a toast at the wedding reception? What order should speeches be in? Is it appropriate to “roast” the couple? Is it okay to read from your cell phone? How long should each person speak for?
Whether heartfelt or hilarious, wedding toasts and speeches remind everyone why they’re there in the first place: to celebrate two people in love. Remember, every couple is unique and there are no set rules when it comes to who says what and when.
Wedding toasts and speeches are an element of the modern wedding reception. Nevertheless, although there is a traditional order for the toasts and speeches to occur, you are under no obligation to follow that order.

The Traditional Wedding Speech Order:
- 1. The Father of the Bride or Parents of the Bride
- 2. The Father of the Groom or Parents of the Groom
- 3. The Maid of Honor / Matron of honor
- 4. The Best Man
- 5. The Couples Speech
- 6. The Blessing
