What Is A “Minimony”?
So, what is a “minimony”, you may ask…. think marry now… party later!
This CoronaVirus pandemic has inspired wedding vendors and small business owners to find creative ways to celebrate your love. As a matter of fact, instead of canceling weddings, many clients have embraced these ideas. Fortunately, as a wedding pro, being creative is what we do best!
The Minimony
Therefore, think of a “minimony” as a commitment ceremony for couples to honor their original wedding date. On the other hand, for those who have reasons for legally getting married now and can’t wait, this is the perfect option. Nevertheless, this is NOT the couple’s wedding, as their postponed wedding is rescheduled for a later date.
Firstly, the minimony, generally involves an officiant, along with other members of the vendor team, and a photographer who can capture the event from an acceptable distance. Additionally, filmmakers or videographers may also be part of this celebration especially if there is a virtual component where guests are joining in from afar. Finally, live music can be added, like a violinist or a string duo, to play the couples music and some light entertainment that follows.
Minimonies are currently taking place in locations where the CoronaVirus pandemic stay-at-home orders are still in place or recently relaxed. Therefore, this may mean gathering restrictions are in place. Maybe, up to 10 people but less than 50 people. Generally, as long as they adhere to social distancing restrictions, you won’t run afoul of the law.
Given these points, some venues are putting together their own Minimony Packages that include, the Ceremony location with an arch and flowers, Officiant, Bridal Bouquet & Groom Boutonniere and a on-site photographer. Additionally, you can get a Champagne toast for two and a custom designed wedding cake.
