Wedding Savings That Go Unnoticed.

Wedding savings is at the top of most couples budget.

Because, not every couple these days have a wedding fund of mom and dad’s money or a money tree growing in the back yard. Also, with the CoronaVirus pandemic, depleting couples savings, the wedding industry is not the same as it was a few years ago.

Firstly, Some Background

Typically, couples have a ceremony location, book at least one wedding venue, and they usually hire a vendor team, which includes professional photographer, entertainment, wedding planner, etc.

From there, there are other elements to rent, buy or hire, from hair and make-up, fashion items, decorations, transportation and every other detail that the couple may envision for their big day. That’s where our expertise comes in.

So, working with Kia from Enagaged Connecticut and the Engaged and Inspired Podcast, here’s some wedding savings that will probably go unnoticed by your guests, help you with stress-free planning and save you some money at the same time:

Pair Down Your Guest List

Be ruthless. No one-size-fits-all rules apply for figuring out who gets an invitation because every couple’s budget and venue capacity is different.

Invite couples only (invite spouses, fiancés, and live-ins) but no mysterious “plus ones”. Have a small wedding party so that you spend less on bouquets, boutonnieres, gifts and transportation. Omit children and co-workers too.

Save The Stamp

Create a wedding website first.  Instead of sending out cards in the mail send Save-The-Date by email or evites.com or create a video .

If your friends and family are e-mailers, use an email RSVP for your actual invitations too and include the link to your wedding website. Remember, if you actually mail out invitations ALWAYS put a stamp on the RSVP cards for guests to mail back – don’t be THAT person!

Have a Micro-Wedding

Due to CoronaVirus pandemic and social distancing regulations, micro-weddings have been trending.  This cost effective solution has been around for years.

It’s an intimate wedding with up to 12 close family and close friends with everything in one location.  Hire a musician (we suggest a strolling violinist), an officiant, photographer, caterer and maybe a decorator.  Use a non traditional venue or location for a couple to three hours in the evening.

8 QUESTIONS YOU MUST ASK A WEDDING PROFESSIONAL

Skip the Gift Registry

If you prefer to pay off your wedding rather than buy household goods that aren’t a necessity, then why register?

When guests see that you’ve not registered they should get the “monetary” hint. Many couples are registering at websites like Zola and Honeyfund to save on their expenses and pay for their honeymoon. Share these links with your family members and guests, and post on your wedding website.

Plan Early

Start planning early and get costs from vendors put on paper in a contract. Prices can rise unexpectedly, particularly in an unsure economy.  Also, be sure to find out about the deposit, reschedule and cancellation policies.

Hire An Expert

That friend-of-a-friend may sound like a great idea but the long term cost and stress may not be worth it.

ALWAYS select a professional.  Their years of experience and working relationships will save loads of money and give you your desired result at the end of the day.

At the end of the day, it’s all about deciding what matters most to you and your partner, and then finding ways to make it work.
