7 Wedding Guest Mistakes To Avoid.

Wedding guest mistakes are more common than you would think…. and that’s the point most wedding guest mistakes are about NOT thinking ahead.

Furthermore, the offensive wedding guest usually isn’t self-aware enough to realize that they are being rude or inappropriate. Here’s our list of wedding guest mistakes to avoid, mostly from our personal experience as wedding professionals.

Don’t Wear White

There is a full spectrum of colors that you can wear to a wedding, including black. So, why not just leave white for the bride?

Arrive At The Time On The Wedding Invitation

it isn’t always appreciated when you arrive an hour before the invitation time. Your vendors don’t appreciate it because we are trying to get everything ready. Also, it’s NEVER appreciated if you are late. NEVER!

Don’t Arrive With An Uninvited Guest or Plus One

If your invitation did not specify a significant other person or guest, please don’t bring one. Especially, if they are children. Yes, there was a reason why the couple did not invite children.

8 QUESTIONS YOU MUST ASK A WEDDING PROFESSIONAL

Do Not Make An Impromptu Speech

Firstly, the couple has already carefully selected the people who are invited to speak at the wedding. Secondly, if they didn’t choose you, no matter how amazing you think your words of wisdom might be, you should keep them to yourself.

Do Not Make Music Requests

No matter how badly you want to hear a song, DO NOT make a request from the DJ or musicians. The couple has already spent a considerable about of time and money curating music selections and musical themes with these vendors. They are not just randomly playing music that requires your interjection. Don’t be surprised if they tell you that they are NOT taking requests.

Do Not Expect Special Food

If you’ve got dietary restrictions or allergies that are very severe, it’s probably a good idea to give someone a heads up when you respond to the invitation. So, at the reception, you may expect SOMETHING, but it may be that you’re not going to be thrilled with the special dish that is presented to you. Therefore, you should make your own snack or dietary substitute, as a back-up and bring that along, instead of making a scene and complaining.

Don’t Complain To The Couple

Before, during, or AFTER the wedding. WHY wedding guests would feel a complaint is merited pre-event attention is beyond me, but the point is, it isn’t appropriate. Even if it was the worst wedding you’ve ever attended, you weren’t invited as a critic, and they don’t need your constructive criticism. EVER.
