How to Deal with Wedding Stress.
Planning a wedding without stress is hard but at the end of the day, the final result is well worth it.
Firstly, during wedding planning, a couple’s number one stress is pleasing their families. Each family has its own styles, budgets, guest lists, tastes, and so many other conflicting opinions on how your big day should come together.
What Is Stress?
Stress is the feeling of being overwhelmed or unable to cope with a mental or emotional rush.
While you can’t control others’ stress, you can control how you react to them. So, here are six wedding stress situations and how to deal with them.
Money
Even with a wedding planner guiding you through the process, costs sometimes come as a surprise. For instance, many couples are surprised by the cost of entertainment for their ceremony. This is one element of your wedding day that is typically at a different location than the reception.
Therefore, the ceremony requires a budget line item of its own. Regardless, if you’ve hired entertainment at the reception location. They cannot be at both locations at the same time.
Set a budget and educate yourself about the specific market where your wedding is taking place.
Guest List
Probably one of the most contentious of all the stresses put on a couple for their wedding.
You, your fiancé, and both sets of parents often have opinions about who should (and shouldn’t!) be invited to your wedding. Cutting a guest can feel painful, but it’s unrealistic to think that your budget and venue can accommodate everyone.
Good communication is key with your future in-laws.
If you have an extended family, they will understand, why they are not invited to every cousin’s or nephew’s wedding. There is no need to explain to everyone WHY and HOW you’ve created your guest list.
Wedding Vendors
Juggling multiple vendors can feel like an impossible task. So, there are many people who you’ve hired to bring your special day to life. It’s important to stay organized. Therefore, create a detailed production schedule and timeline.
Make lists of possible fears and stress points that you think could occur on your day, and pass them out to your vendor team. This will help, lessen or maybe even, prevent any meltdowns on the wedding day.
Getting a wedding planner to do this is a fantastic idea.
Center of Attraction
The First Dance and giving a toast are the most wedding stressful moments. In fact, the fear of speaking in front of a crowd is most people’s #1 fear. There’s a word for it – glossophobia
Don’t be afraid to ask for help.
Couples can benefit from taking a dance class or public speaking lesson. Moreover, you’ll achieve a level of confidence that will alleviate some of your anxieties.
Choosing A Wedding Party
Choosing your wedding party can stir up a lot of emotions. From your maid of honor to your ring bearer, these choices can determine your friendships and family relationships moving forward.
Firstly, determine your wedding party size, then think of who you’ll be close to 10, 15, or 20 years down the road. Who’s been there for you during both challenging and happy moments of your life? Those are the ones you select for your wedding party.
Maybe it’s easier to not have a wedding party!
Getting Ready
Most pre-wedding anxiety tends to come to fruition on the morning of the big day.
If you’re a couple that wants to get ready together. Absolutely. Go ahead and do it, but figure out how that is done and scheduling time for that is very important.
Scheduling extra time for hair and make-up is essential. Are you having a First Look? Schedule extra time for this because it never gets done in 15 minutes.
Adding these buffer times will prevent a pressure build-up in case things don’t run according to plan.
In Conclusion
Don’t always think of the bad things that can happen. However, focus on some of the solutions and stop doubting yourself. Don’t micromanage your wedding.
Most of all, put down your wedding planning for a while and take a walk, exercise and do something FUN. This is the most incredible wedding stress reliever we know.
