DJ Sam: You know, there are specific considerations for determining the wedding First Dance.

DJ Sal: Firstly, pick a song with a special meaning that’s romantic or memorable.

DJ Sam: Pick a song that’s great to dance to or suits your wedding theme.

DJ Sal: Maybe it’s popular with celebrities, features in a film or TV show you love.

DJ Sam: Or your friends and family suggested it,

DJ Sal: Maybe you found it on Google, iTunes, or maybe even Spotify.

DJ Sam: Or it was the song playing when you first met, or it’s quite simply your favorite song ever!

DJ Sal: No matter how you found it, your wedding First Dance song offers romance, emotion, and perfect soundtrack for the start of your married life. Let’s explain our Top 20 First Dances. I gotta tell you, things are different nowadays. When Sam and I were first DJing, what always happened is, everyone had the same First [00:03:00] Dance song. Either had been ” Wonderful Tonight” by Eric Clapton, ” Color My World” by Chicago, or “Faithfully” by Journey.

DJ Sam: Yeah, this is not your usual Top 20 First Dance list. This curated list draws exclusively from selections our clients chose over the last year from our individual companies for their First Dances. We’ve excluded Taylor Swift and uh, some of the more generic songs that you would typically hear and some classics. We’ve kind of whittled it down to our top 20 that we thought were unique and different. Last year’s couples gravitated towards songs with meaningful lyrics and emotional melodies that feel fresh but timeless. We’ll review them in no particular order or priority of importance.

DJ Sal: Just a side note, you know that little legal line we have to tell you for the podcast is: this podcast does not have the right to play [00:04:00] copyrighted music, so you are not gonna hear any of the songs that we suggest. This is just for informational purposes only. Check out this edition, show notes or YouTube description for links or go to your favorite music program to listen to the following selection.

DJ Sam: First up, but not necessarily our number one is the Arctic Monkeys and “Baby, I’m yours”. This vintage cover from 2006 remains an Indie favorite for its nostalgic feel and dreamy vibe. I highly recommend you checking out the original version because this is a cover. It’s sung by the great soul singer, Barbara Lewis.

DJ Sal: I just wanna remind you, these are no particular order. Even though we gave them numbers, it’s not necessarily where we would put it on a list.

So here’s number two, “Biblical” by Calum Scott, from the album called “Bridges” that came out in June of 2022 with captivating vocals and heartfelt emotion. It’s a modern anthem for devotion and [00:05:00] love.

DJ Sam: Next up is a song that you may be familiar with, but the artist, not so. The song. “Can You Feel The Love Tonight?” The artist Daniel Yang. This violin cover as elegance and romance, creating a magical First Dance or you can use this for ceremony ambience.

DJ Sal: So here’s number four, and this is actually a very popular artist, but not the most used song, and it’s called “Conversations in the Dark,” and it’s by John Legend. This song came out in 2020. Legends meaningful lyrics and soulful tone make this a standout for couples wanting a genuine, deep, thoughtful First Dance.

DJ Sam: Number five is Parmalee’s “I’m Gonna Love You.” This country love song is warm, and the touching lyrics are perfect for couples vowing to last forever.

DJ Sal: So here’s another one. It’s a cover. Uh, Number six. “You’re Still The One”. You’re used to hearing it from Shania Twain, but wait till you listen to Teddy [00:06:00] Swims. This one needs no introductions whatsoever, but I did it anyway. Contemporary cover for a wedding classic.

DJ Sam: Number seven is “Sweet Symphony” by, uh, uh, Chris Stapleton, and he’s joined by a young lady by the name of Joy and they sing this as a country duet. It’s heartfelt and authentic. It’s from 2022, and this song brings deep emotion and sincerity to your First Dance.

DJ Sal: Here’s a different artist for you. Kelsey Hart with “Life With You”. This is our number eight choice from 2023. A beautiful choice for a sweet message about building a life together.

DJ Sam: Number nine comes the Pogues. So now this goes back to 1996. “Love You Till The End”. And it’s still bringing couples to tears, and if you’ve never heard this before, please take a listen. This modern folk ballad offers poetic lyrics for couples seeking an unconventional First Dance.

DJ Sal: And [00:07:00] Number 10, ” Millionaire” by Chris Stapleton. Stapleton’s soulful country style and loving lyrics make it a popular pick for wedding playlists.

DJ Sam: Now, do you have a question or a concern? If you do, go to Facebook and join us on the Stress-Free Wedding Planning Community and now in the Connecticut Wedding Advice Community. DJ Sam: Today’s Wedding Tip [00:08:00] Wednesday is all about vendor payments, but first, a successful marriage requires falling in love many times. Always with the same person, but with varying tactics.

DJ Sal: That’s awesome. That’s awesome. Make sure your wedding vendor payments are squared away before the big day. Usually there are days on your contract or in an email that told you when these payments are due. So please mark your calendar, and remember, apps like Venmo and Zelle have daily limits, and paying last-minute can cause stress. For instance, cutting into photo time if you’re having to send money during hair and makeup, or interrupting family portraits to pay the florist. Contracts set due dates for a reason. Timely payments keep your wedding day smooth and stress-free.

DJ Sam: That’s another wedding tip from Sal and Sam.

And now back to the [00:09:00] Stress-Free Wedding Planning Podcast.

DJ Sam: We’re in the middle of our Top 20 Best First Dance Songs For Your Unforgettable Wedding. I’m Sam from Atmosphere Productions.

DJ Sal: And I’m Sal from After Hours Events of New England. We’ve covered so far 10 songs that will surely make it to your short list for your wedding First Dance. Sam has some more for you.

DJ Sam: Yes, I do. Number 11 is from Will Reagan, and ” Not In A Hurry”, a reflective Indie ballad for couples who want something gently unique. Check out the gospel choir in the background. Phenomenal!

DJ Sal: Another one is ” Ordinary” by Alex Warren. The song peaked atop the billboard Hot 100 in 2025 for 10 non-consecutive weeks. This song’s modern love story resonates with Gen Z couples.

DJ Sam: Certainly does. This is a great song. Coming in at number 13 is “Sad Song” from We The Kings, featuring Elena Coats. It’s a great romantic pop [00:10:00] ballad with some very expressive lyric. It is perfect for a dramatic First Dance.

DJ Sal: Here’s “Slow Dance” by A.J Mitchell featuring Ava Max. A modern R&B romance with a soothing groove for a close, heartfelt moment.

DJ Sam: Number 15, Connor Maynard, “Someone You Loved”. This is the cover of the Louis Capaldi song, so go and check that out. It’s an emotional ballad. Ideal for couples who love poignant melodies.

DJ Sal: Number 16 is actually one of my favorites. It’s called “Thank God” by Kane Brown, along with his wife, Katelyn Brown. It’s a country duet with real-life love. Trending for its personal feel. Brown chose to include his wife, Kaitlyn, as a duet vocalist.

DJ Sam: Nice. I like that one. Next up at number 17 is Brett Eldredge, “The One You Need”, again, a soulful song that is very supportive. This song is perfect for a meaningful First Dance.

DJ Sal: We have Jake Scott with a [00:11:00] song called “Tuesdays” and the very specific version, the “Strings” version, a fresh acoustic addition loved for its sweet lyrics and elegant simplicity.

DJ Sam: Number 19 “Until I Found You” from Steven Sanchez and Emi Beihold. A modern song with a classic unforgettable vibe. This one’s from 2022. This ball is gentle, romantic, and favored for its timeless quality.
