DJ Sal Fusco: Well, Sam, let’s kick off with the big picture. The number one thing we tell couples is know what matters most. Not every detail needs to be perfect, but the experience is what’s important. That’s what people truly remember. So let’s think about the feel of day, how you want it, how you envision everything to be. Look, everything isn’t going to be perfect and it doesn’t need to be, sometimes you just gotta roll with it. There are little things that are gonna go wrong, but ultimately that whole day is about the two of you. So don’t let the small stuff hurt you. Roll with it. Have a great time. Concentrate on the things that are important to you. If music is a big thing for you, make sure you have great conversations with your DJ on [00:04:00] what your expectations and what your vision is so they understand what you’re doing.
Same thing with your photographer. You wanna go over with them what your expectations are and talk it out to make sure you’re getting what you truly do want.
And when it comes to food, if you could do it, have a tasting at the facility in which you’re having your wedding, if that’s something that’s important to you, get a taste of very little thing and see what works for you and what’s gonna make you happy on your special day. Three top priorities for many couples is the music, the food, and the photography. So, stay focused and keep your energy, and control your budget where it counts.
Sylvester: One of the biggest game changers, Sal, is couples hiring their vendors. And it’s not just hiring the vendors, it’s hiring vendors that you trust.
Now, I don’t mean just professional because anybody can put that on their paperwork. But people who communicate and understand your vision and [00:05:00] will go to bat for you. So remember, when you are hiring your team, those are the key things that you need to think about, when you are choosing these vendors, are they going to be your biggest advocate?
Now, what’s the vibe that you are looking for. When you’re hiring your dj? It’s not just somebody who’s pushing buttons. They’re there to quarterback your reception. Your ceremony. They’re there to be your advocate, so that you can get everything done in a timely manner and make sure that your guests are having fun.
So it’s not just somebody pushing buttons. Yes. Of course you can get the cheapest DJ and then they’ll just push buttons, or you can get a qualified professional that’s gonna help guide you and be what I call your reception entertainment director. We’ve seen photographers help bustle the dresses of the bride, or Officiant [00:06:00] have tissues for the parents or even for the groom. That’s the kind of support that you want. Meet with your vendors early. Ask questions. Tell them what you want. If they make you feel calm and heard, you are in good hands.
DJ Sal Fusco: All good information there, Sam. Look, another important thing is creating a timeline and sticking to it, well sorta. A A lot of couples get a little nervous when someone’s too organized. I’ve noticed that. But what you need to realize is you have to have a game plan going into a wedding, ’cause if you don’t have a game plan, everything will fall apart very quickly.
So, having something down on paper on the way you want it, is very important, so everyone understands what your expectations are. So having a good timeline is extremely important. Don’t watch the clock. Don’t worry about all the other things. If you have true professionals, they’re gonna help you through the whole thing.
I know [00:07:00] Sam and myself, when we’re DJing, we have our timelines and we will help guide you through that day to make things as simple for you as humanly possible. And we’re working with all the other professionals to make sure everything is nice and smooth. here’s a key: build in buffers. When you’re planning things, especially pictures, say you’re having a First Look and the photographer says, Hey, it takes 90 minutes.
Okay, that’s nice. Don’t just put aside 90 minutes, make it two hours. If you have people you know you can’t trust, they’re gonna be somewhere on time. Hey, if it’s starting at five o’clock, you may wanna say, 4:30, 4:45. You know your family and friends best. You know what kind of buffer you need to put in.
In my own personal wedding, my sister is late for everything. We had to tell her that it started a half hour, then it really did, and she made it just on time. So these are all very important things to consider when coming up with a timeline.
Also, have a “day-of point person” who is not you, whether it’s your planner, a trusted friend [00:08:00] or someone like us. Let them handle the questions, the hiccups, and the missing boutonnieres.
Sylvester: So we’ve just explained, focusing on what matters, building your dream team and and creating a realistic timeline.

Sylvester: Now it’s time for our Wedding Tip Wednesday, but first marriage is where, “what do you want to eat” becomes the most complicated question ever asked!
DJ Sal Fusco: There’s nothing more true than that. For this tip, let’s talk about quality flowers. Picking a florist is like picking a photographer. You’re [00:09:00] picking a true artist, and it’s important to get really beautiful flowers because quality flowers will last longer. They’re gonna be in so many pictures and they’re gonna last a lifetime. So you want everything looking great.
Sylvester: And that’s another wedding tip from Sal and Sam.

Sylvester: Thanks for joining us again in our discussion about making your wedding day blissful with unmissable tips for stress-free wedding planning. Are you ready for some more information? Great. I’m Sam from Atmosphere Productions and my host with the most is Sal.
DJ Sal Fusco: Hi, I am Sal from After Hours Events Of New England. Look, you wanna keep your energy up. One of the biggest causes of stress when guests are confused or bored. So keep the energy moving, keep it up. Sam and I agree that we love a wedding that flows. There’s nothing greater than that. Ceremony to cocktail hour, to dinner, to dancing. No long gaps, no awkward silences, keeping music going. Give people a drink and always let them know what’s next. And [00:11:00] that’s extremely important. That’s sometimes where a wedding will fall short when your guests are not being directed and they have no idea what’s coming up and they get lost. So, it’s very important. Have an mc who’s gonna kind of let everyone know over the microphone how things are gonna work. Have a plan for announcements for introducing the couple. When is the cake gonna happen? That’s stuff that doesn’t just happen magically. Someone’s gotta lead the charge. I’m going to sneak in a pro Tip here. Feed your vendors! Happy vendors equals a smoother event. We promise.
Sylvester: You’re absolutely right Sal. I had a client, that was very concerned that there would be a gap in between the time that they went to take “sunset pictures” and when they got back, they didn’t want people sitting around and waiting.
Of course, that’s not gonna happen. We’re gonna get everybody up and dancing. And that’s the key thing. A lot of clients just think that the timeline is going to be one definitive thing. It is fluid. Things will keep moving. And if you have a DJ that is [00:12:00] professional, like Sal and I, we’re gonna make sure there is no long gaps, there are no awkward pauses.
The music just keeps on going. And that brings me to our next point, which is stay present, be in the moment. The day flies by so quickly. So soak up those little moments: your partner’s face during the vows. Your grandma dancing, the uptown funk, that first bite of cake, all those little moments, soak them up, because if you didn’t get video, you’re not gonna see those moments again, so enjoy them!
Now, what happens if something goes wrong? And I guarantee something will go wrong! There is no such thing as a perfect wedding. Don’t let it ruin your joy. Don’t be a “bridezilla”. Be in the moment. And move on to the next thing. Your guests probably don’t even know that something went wrong.
That imperfect moment could turn out to be [00:13:00] the best story of your wedding. And remember, you are not just planning a party, you are beginning a marriage. That’s what it’s all about.
DJ Sal Fusco: So let’s recap. Remember, focus on what matters. It’s so important. Build your dream team so the stress will go away. Create a realistic timeline. Again, this is gonna help keep stress away by being realistic. Keep the energy flowing. You wanna keep things moving on, like Sam said, with a timeline. You may go out for pictures, but we’re gonna keep things going inside the room so everyone’s having a great time.
And mostly please stay present. That is so important that you focus on the day in front of you and what is happening, and be present and be in the moment. Your wedding should be joyful, personal, and fun. With the right planning and the right mindset. It absolutely can be.
Sylvester: At the end of the day, your wedding is about celebrating your love, not sweating [00:14:00] about the small stuff. When you plan with intention, surround yourself with the right people and give yourself space to be present. The magic just unfolds naturally. We hope these tips help you breathe a little easier and make your life just a little bit more easier, and we hope that you get excited for what’s ahead on your big day.
