DJ Sal Fusco: Writing a wedding review can be very daunting, especially if you just came back from your honeymoon, but this is very important. It is a powerful way to thank your vendors and guide other couples in the right direction. Sylvester: After the wedding celebration settles or you return from your honeymoon, one of the most meaningful ways you can give back is by writing a thoughtful review for your wedding vendors.

In today’s edition, we’ll explain how to write wedding vendor reviews that truly help and why they matter.

DJ Sal Fusco: By taking the time to write a thoughtful review about your vendors at your wedding is very helpful to future couples who are looking to find the right DJ or the right photographer, or whomever. You want to give credit to those hardworking pros that you made your wedding so magical.

Sylvester: That’s right. Sal, your review accomplishes three things. Firstly, it guides future couples. Just as Sal says, your review can be the deciding factor for another couple’s search for their perfect DJ, [00:04:00] florist, or even photographer. Real experiences matter. Good or bad. They offer invaluable information and insight that no ad or commercial or website could match.

Supporting small businesses. This is so key. Support, the local economy. For many vendors, like us, client reviews are the main form of our marketing. A thoughtful, positive review can help them grow their business and reach many, many more couples. And thirdly, giving back your vendors worked hard for you to make your day special. Take a few minutes to share your appreciation and make it meaningful and say “Thank You”.

DJ Sal Fusco: Just as a reminder, join us on our YouTube channel. Just search for Stress-free Wedding Planning Podcast with Sal and Sam. Like, comment, subscribe, and get it first.

Sylvester: Now let’s make an important point before you rush out [00:05:00] and post a heated review consider these tips. Take a moment to reflect, stop! Don’t go to your keyboard or to your phone. Give yourself time to think things through before reacting, and this is the key thing, publicly. Be reasonable. Approach the situation with a clear and sensible mindset. Thirdly, choose your words carefully. Accusations like “they stole from me” can be defamatory. If they truly committed a crime, then you should have gone to the authorities before posting. Another thing is to document any breaches. You have a contract, right? If you believe the vendor broke the contract, ensure that you have solid evidence and are ready to seek legal action.

And finally , keep private matters private. Avoid airing personal grievances on public forums like Reddit [00:06:00] or social media communities. If your goal is to warn others about your experience, do so thoughtfully and respectfully. Stick to the facts and avoid making serious allegations unless you are prepared to pursue them legally.

Remember, some vendors may take legal action in response to your defamatory statements. Try to resolve things amicably with the vendor before posting. Some vendors may not be as lenient, if you don’t give them a chance to fix any issues that you have.

DJ Sal Fusco: Sam, that is all excellent advice there. We see too often on these social media communities where people are defaming vendors and it’s not always all that fair. The person didn’t think out what they were saying online, and it could be a really bad, negative thing for that vendor when it really wasn’t as bad as you really think, if you really thought about it.

So please take a time to simmer down. Think about what you wanna say and make [00:07:00] sure you don’t say anything that’s gonna hurt you or anyone else.

Now, let’s talk about tips for writing wedding vendor reviews. So what do you need to have in a wedding vendor review, and why is that so important to have the proper information? When you give a review. You wanna give some specifics. Give some meat to that review, explaining why that person was so great or that company was so great.

Uh, Let the people who are reading what you are putting out there understand your experience. You can’t just say, “Hey, the photographer was great” or, “the photographer took wonderful pictures”, “the DJ played wonderful music.” It doesn’t really explain to the other people reading this, what they truly did for you and how they made your experience so great. Something really important is keep it concise, but thoughtful. You don’t need to write a novel. Focus on the key moments that the qualities that made this experience [00:08:00] so memorable. Even a short, heartfelt review is incredibly valuable. Listen to an example of this.

Susan: “Sal was the DJ for our wedding on June 24th. He did a fantastic job. He allowed us to pick our own playlist, but also played other great songs that our guests absolutely loved. He truly made our wedding a great experience for everyone. We highly recommend his service.”

DJ Sal Fusco: We’ve just explained why it is important to write an after wedding review and the three things that are crucial to include in the review.

DJ Sal Fusco: It’s Wedding Tip Wednesday time, but first some marriage advice. Marriage is like a workshop. The husband works and the wife shops.

Sylvester: So true, Sal. So true. On today’s Wedding Tip Wednesday, maintain a record of communications. Make sure that any deviations from your wedding agreements are documented. We’re talking about our vendors now, so we want you to be all on the same page. Send the vendor a confirmation email after making any changes. Don’t simply assume that everything is confirmed, because remember, you may not be the only client that that vendor is spoken to that day. By the time the event arrives, your original contract may no longer even look like what you did at the very beginning when you signed. So all of these updates make sense.

DJ Sal Fusco: Keep the same thread about all the information with that vendor, so [00:11:00] both of you could go back to it and make sure everything is just the way you want it. There should always be that final walkthrough. Making sure, uh, this is my expectations.

You understand my expectations, and the vendor is, uh, writing back to you to let you know I totally understand. So now you have confirmation on both sides that everything is just the way you want it. And that’s another wedding Tip from Sal and Sam.

Adam: Wedding Tip Wednesday is available on the Stress-free Wedding Planning Facebook group page every Wednesday. Join the group for free.

Sylvester: Thanks for joining us for our discussion on how to write wedding vendor reviews that truly help and why they matter. I’m Sam from Atmosphere Productions.

DJ Sal Fusco: Hi, I am Sal from After Hours Events of New England. We’ve already discussed three things that are important to include in your after wedding vendor review. Now on to more tips. Something that’s very important. Mention the vendor strengths. Highlight the vendor’s professionalism, creativity, responsiveness, or flexibility.

This is all very important information to [00:12:00] future couples. Did they communicate clearly? Were they punctual? Did they go above and beyond? These specifics help other couples know what to expect.

Sylvester: Here’s another important aspect. Address any issues directly if needed. If you have a concern, try to solve it with them upfront before posting a review. Most vendors want the chance to make things right. If issues persist, share them respectfully and constructively in your review so others are aware.

DJ Sal Fusco: Use star ratings wisely. Most review platforms allow you to rate categories of like quality, value, professionalism. Use these ratings honestly and let your written review provide the context for these scores. It is kind of important to kind of explain how you got that score so everyone understands what’s going on and it’s very clear. Yeah,

Sylvester: having those ratings, Sal, uh, are [00:13:00] cool, but you can’t give every vendor that worked for you, uh, a one star rating without explaining what happened. So go very careful with that. Now let’s get to a sample review. We’re gonna tell you what the structure is and then we’re gonna, let you hear what a sample review would sound like.

So you need to do an intro, and this is where you’re reviewing what services were given or provided, uh, to you. It’s very important to do that. Then write your experience.

What stood out ? Any memorable moments. Now, every wedding, there’s always something that goes wrong, but there are also positive moments. Please note those positive experiences that you have before going on to the next one, which is the results.

How did the vendor contribute to your wedding? If something went wrong, then obviously say that something went wrong. But if something did go excellent, or the vendor went above [00:14:00] and beyond, make sure you note that in that part of the review. And finally, your review has to include a recommendation. Would you hire them again? Why? You have to state that and if you wouldn’t hire them again, please state that too. Very important part. Good or bad. Please put in there why you would or would not hire that vendor again.

DJ Sal Fusco: So something very important, Sam, what everyone should always consider when writing these reviews before you hit the post button, read it over carefully again. Sometimes you added a word that shouldn’t have been there, that gives a different meaning or spell check change something on you. So you wanna make sure everything makes sense and it’s what you truly wanted. Then hit post. So let’s wrap it up with an example. See how all the elements come together.

Susan: “We hired DJ Sam and his crew as our DJ for our wedding on June 24th, and they exceeded every [00:15:00] expectation from our first meeting. They listened carefully to our vision and offered creative suggestions we hadn’t considered. On the wedding day, they had a beautiful setup, which included lighting. They were dressed professionally and informally for our black tie wedding.

When a last minute rainstorm forced us to move the ceremony indoors, DJ Sam quickly reworked the arrangements to fit the new space. Their flexibility and calm attitude made a stressful situation so much easier. I can’t recommend them highly enough. Our wedding wouldn’t have been the same without them.”

Sylvester: As you can see, writing wedding vendor reviews is a small act, but has a big impact. By sharing your honest experience, you help future couples make informed decisions and show gratitude to the vendors who made your celebration so possible. After you return from your honeymoon, take a few minutes please to pay it forward. Your words could be the reason, another couple finds their dream wedding vendor [00:16:00] team.

DJ Sal Fusco: So there you have it. We just explained how to write wedding vendor reviews that truly help and why they matter. We gave you specific examples of exactly what to write, plus some expert tips for crafting wedding vendor reviews that are honest and engaging, and that’ll influence other couples decisions.
