Sylvester: As the groom-to-be, are you prepared for the whirlwind of emotions last minute details and unforgettable moments that come with saying I do. Or do you just plan on showing up? In today’s edition, we’ll explain crucial wedding day hacks that every groom-to-be need to know. But first, I’d like to say congratulations to our listeners, Caitlyn and Chris. They’ll be getting married this October right here in Connecticut. Again, congratulations, Caitlyn and Chris, and thank you for listening to the Stress-free Wedding Planning Podcast.
DJ Sal Fusco: Let’s [00:04:00] start off with something really important. This is before the wedding. Preparation is key. Don’t underestimate the power of rest. Aim for at least eight hours of sleep the night before, so you wake up refreshed and ready to enjoy every moment of your special day.
Sylvester: Now, don’t party too hard the night before. If you’re planning a bachelor party, which we don’t recommend doing the night before, do it a few days or a week even before the wedding. That way you don’t have a hangover on the day and ruin your entire wedding day.
DJ Sal Fusco: Something extremely important the day of is to eat a solid breakfast. Before the wedding, you may not get a chance to eat for hours, so start the day with a high protein filling breakfast to keep your energy up.
Sylvester: Hydrate, hydrate, hydrate. That’s important. No. No matter what you’re doing, whether it’s a wedding or any other activity, if especially it’s in the summer, make sure you [00:05:00] hydrate.
You’ve got to do this. We’ve seen so many couples or even guests, just literally pass out because it’s been too hot. So hydrate, get some zero sugar drinks and have them sprinkled around, so that if you’re taking pictures or whether you’re outside for any length of time, so you have these drinks available so you can always hydrate yourself.
DJ Sal Fusco: Next, let’s discuss practicing your vows and speeches. Don’t leave this till the last minute. Practice your vows and any speeches in advance so you feel confident and sincere.
Sylvester: That’s so important, Sal. I see so many grooms actually just before the ceremony, they’re actually just finishing up their vows. No, no, no, no. Prepare in advance so that you don’t have to worry about it. Just a reminder, join us on our YouTube channel. All you have to do is search for the Stress-free Wedding Planning Podcast with Sal and Sam. Like, comment, [00:06:00] subscribe, and get it first. Prepare and have your accessories ready. That’s next up on our little checklist here. You have to get your rental suit or have your suit dry cleaned, pressed, and ready, and lay out all your accessories, your tie, your cuff links your socks, your shoes, your belts. Do all that the night before. Do not expect that you’re gonna remember all this stuff the morning of, in the hustle and bustle of getting everybody together. Practice beforehand how to do your tie. Yes, there are different ways to do your tie practice. YouTube has a great selection of the different knots that you can use for your tie. That way you are not fumbling around on the big morning of the big day.
DJ Sal Fusco: Now you wanna make sure you groom yourself properly, so get a fresh haircut, not the day before, but a few days prior to. And you know, you wanna be extra clean, [00:07:00] nice professional shave, so you look nice and smooth and great for any of those pictures. Wear comfortable and clean underwear, it sounds simple, but comfort matters on a long active day. Treat yourself to a new pair if needed. I can’t emphasize this enough. I always believe that a groom should not just have extra underwear, but maybe an extra t-shirt and a duplicate shirt, so you could change maybe after the ceremony, so you feel much fresher when it’s time for introductions and that first dance and the rest of the reception.
Sylvester: That second shirt Sal, is a Wedding Tip Wednesday, we’ve done one of those. That is crucial. Have a second shirt. I guarantee you’re gonna be all hot and sweaty and you want to change into that second shirt for the reception. Which leads us nicely into prepare and pack those essentials. So prepare a tidy room. What does that mean? A tidy room is an area where you are going to get ready and nobody else is going to be in there, [00:08:00] preferably. It makes for great pictures and a calmer atmosphere. Hide away your clutter. Throw away the trash, before the photographer arrives because this room is the room he’s gonna take those pictures of the groom getting dressed and somebody helping him with the tie, et cetera. All of those candid behind the scenes shots are done in that little, what we call a “tidy room”. Prepare a small bag with must haves. This is what I call your “Go Bag”. It has everything in there that you might need in an emergency. Deodorant, breath mints, tissues, a lint roller, backup socks. And as Sal mentioned, that shirt, have all of those there ready. And of course, don’t forget the rings.
DJ Sal Fusco: Yes, Sam. The rings are so important and you need to assign someone the responsibility of the rings. So decide in advance who’s gonna hold the [00:09:00] rings. Either be the best man, the wedding officiant, or even your wedding planner and double check they are secure. Look. This is something very important. You can’t leave this behind. There has to be a checklist. Let it not be the only thing that you worry about. Let your best man know, “Hey, we need to check on the rings” and make sure whoever’s supposed to have ’em, has them and is gonna take ’em with them when they go to the church or to the facility where you might have your ceremony.
Sylvester: We’ve just explained nine essential tips preparing the groom-to-be before the wedding day. Coming up next crucial day of hacks that every groom-to-be need to know.

Sylvester: On today’s Wedding Tip Wednesday. Hold that kiss. Don’t rush on your wedding day. A longer more passionate kiss can create a memorable moment and offer photographers great opportunities for capturing that emotion.
Yes. You should enjoy kissing on your wedding day. Aim for a kiss that lasts at least a few seconds, not just a quick peck. This ensures great photos. Your photographers will love you.
DJ Sal Fusco: And that’s another wedding Tip from Sal and Sam.

Sylvester: Welcome back to our discussion about crucial Wedding Day hacks that every groom-to-be needs to know.
I’m Sam from Atmosphere Productions.
DJ Sal Fusco: I’m Sal from After Hours Events of New England, we’ve already discussed practicing your vows, preparing your [00:12:00] suit and accessories and groom-to-be wedding ring tips.
Sylvester: Another aspect of your checklist before the wedding day should be preparing your groomsmen. Very important that they get the timeline and what their exact responsibilities are. They’re just not going to show up as part of your crew. They are going to be, actually a part of the day. So if they have responsibilities, make sure they know when and where. Give them a ready time. So, my time is usually 15 or 20 to 30 minutes before everybody else’s time, so I always tell people to be there earlier than I need them. And that’s important that you do the same thing. You want them to be on time, you don’t want them showing up at the last minute. This avoids any delays.
DJ Sal Fusco: Something that’s really great to do is write a note to your partner. A heartfelt letter, so they get to see it, and you get to connect before everything happens at the alter. And it’s also something you could do for the First [00:13:00] Look is such a great emotional moment.
Sylvester: Another aspect that needs to be done before the day is for you as the groom to spend time with your parents. This is often forgotten. Usually it’s the bride that does all the fun stuff with the family. But don’t forget, gentlemen, before the day, please, spend some time with your parents. It’s really a beautiful emotional thing to do before the wedding day. That’s right. Spend some time with your parents.
DJ Sal Fusco: We’ve already spoken about what should happen before the wedding. Now let’s talk about what we should be doing during the wedding. Be present and enjoy every moment. It’s also important to be punctual. It’s a sign of respect to your partner, your guest, and vendors. Don’t keep everyone waiting. Please, please be on time. That is very important. Now, be in the moment, enjoy and take a deep breath, look around and soak in the experience. This is your day. Enjoy it!
Sylvester: Also important [00:14:00] on the day is to stick with your partner or at least near them. Etiquette says that both of you should be in the room at the same time. So, don’t both leave and do games outside or, or go to the bar at the same time. You need to be present. At least one of you should be in the room. Preferably both. Mingle with your guests. Your guests love it when you go to the cocktail hour and you mingle. Outside or, or in the cocktail hour room with them. It really is a sweet thing to do. It shows that you care. Stay close to your spouse. Share the day together with them.
DJ Sal Fusco: So, look, things may go wrong, but don’t sweat the small stuff. Things may not go exactly as planned. Focus on the big picture and let the minor hiccup slide.
Sylvester: Here’s something that we caution all our clients, and that is to drink responsibly, but also you must eat responsibly. You’ve gotta remember that it’s a long day and if all you do is drink, you’re gonna be [00:15:00] sick later on.
And if you eat too much. You’re gonna be sick later on. It is a stressful day, so don’t skip meals and pace yourself with alcohol. You want to remember the day for all the right reasons, and so do your guests.
DJ Sal Fusco: And what we tell everyone, Sam, all the time, hydrate, hydrate, hydrate. Make sure you’re drinking water between those drinks, so you won’t get sick and you’ll feel wonderful through the whole event. Now, another thing that’s important, and that’s keeping your pockets empty. Remove bulky items because this is not gonna look good in photos. Ask a groomsman to hold them if needed, or keep ’em in the bridal suite so you don’t have to worry about that. Also, coordinate sunglasses for outdoor photos. Decide in advance if your groomsmen will wear sunglasses for outdoor shots. Consistency looks best.
Sylvester: And check your posture. Isn’t this something that every photographer is trying [00:16:00] to get everybody to look good? And 99% of it is posture. Make sure you stand straight, erect and tall. And during the ceremony, make sure you stand tall, relaxed, and ready to take those ceremony pictures.
And of course, all of the wedding party pictures, you need to stand and you need to have the right posture because it exudes confidence. And of course it looks great in pictures. Why wouldn’t you wanna stand up and look good in those pictures? So have a great posture.
DJ Sal Fusco: A lot of people are working hard for you at at your wedding, even if their family or their vendors or what have you.
Express gratitude and have fun. Thank your guests, thank your wedding party, your vendors, and for being part of your day. A little appreciation goes a long, long way. Remember to let loose dance and celebrate. This is the start of an incredible journey. Enjoy every second.
Sylvester: You got to have fun. [00:17:00] That’s the most important thing. I believe that the grooms-to-be must do. Have fun.
JR: This is the Stress-free Wedding Planning Podcast with Sal and Sam.
Sylvester: So there you have it. We’ve just explained crucial wedding day hacks that every groom-to-be needs to know. So let’s review before the wedding preparation is the key. Don’t party too hard the night before or in fact, don’t have a bachelor party the night before. Have it weeks in advance. Eat a solid breakfast. Hydrate, hydrate, hydrate. Practice your vows in speech and don’t wait till the last minute.
DJ Sal Fusco: Another thing is prep your suit and accessories. Maybe even try everything on. Use all the accessories to make sure you do have everything with you. Groom yourself. You wanna look great for all those pictures and videos that might be taken at your wedding.
Prepare and pack essentials. That extra underwear, those extra socks, that extra t-shirt or maybe even another shirt. Assign ring [00:18:00] responsibility. Make sure someone has those rings. You don’t want that to go wrong during the ceremony. And of course, prepare the groomsmen.
Letting them to know about certain things are, we’re gonna use sunglasses for outside pictures or what have you. Whatever they need to know ahead of time. You want them to be prepared.
Sylvester: And write a note to your partner. It’s always beautiful to have a first look and then hand a note so that they can read. Looks really cool. Take a moment with your parents. Grooms-to-be, this is a very emotional time. Don’t forget your parents. Now, during the wedding day itself, be present and enjoy. Arrive early and on time. Punctuality says everything about your respect for your guests, and stick next to your partner. Stick close to them. You love them. You just got married. You should stay together.
DJ Sal Fusco: And can’t emphasize this enough, don’t sweat the small stuff. Remember what the meaning of the whole day is. It’s just marrying your partner, the person you’re gonna love forever. Eat and drink [00:19:00] responsibly. Make sure you have some food in your stomach.
It’s gonna be a really long day. And don’t overdo the drinking of alcohol. Make sure you’re drinking some water in between. Keep your pockets empty. So important for pictures of videos. You don’t wanna see bulky pockets. And always check your posture. Make sure you’re standing straight up and looking straight ahead for all those great pictures.
And finally express gratitude and have fun.
